Women’s Mountain Bike Event Day 2026

The Women’s Mountain Bike Event Day is an annual celebration held on the first Saturday of May. The event focuses on empowerment, community, and unity, bringing together women riders of all ages and skill levels for a fun filled day of mountain biking.

This year’s event was held at Prince Edward Park. Originally, participants were set to gather inside the park itself, but after discovering unexpected snow coverage due to a heavy winter that made parts of the park unusable, Karen Kennedy of GRIT709 quickly adapted the plan. Through fast thinking and problem solving, Karen moved the registration and introductory session to the Prince Edward Park parking lot, helping save the event from cancellation.

Following registration and introductions, participants took part in a skills session that made use of Prince Edward Park’s parking lot space. Riders of all experience levels came together to support one another, learn new techniques, and share personal stories and riding tips throughout the day.

The successful skills session was followed by an après gathering at Broomstick Brewing & Alehouse, a partner of the West Coast Cycling Association and a wonderful host for the final part of the event. There, the participants were able to relax, socialize, and reflect on the day’s activities while enjoying delicious food and drinks.

As the mountain biking community continues to grow, this event has consistently seen increased participation and success over the years. With the sport continuing to expand, the Women’s Mountain Bike Event Day has even more opportunities to grow bigger and better in the future. Don’t miss out next time. April 2025 - Article published on Pinkbike.com

We put a article together for Pinkbike, and they published it!

“The LRE is a community event, and it's one of the best parts of the event. Each year, local businesses come forward to support the event, many of them from the start of the event in 2022, continuing every year since. The event simply wouldn’t happen without them. The local MTB Association, the West Coast Cycling Association (WCCA), and trail builders work hard all summer leading up to the event to get the trails in top shape while also expanding the local network more and more each summer. If there is one saying that stands out for the LRE, it is the classic “It takes a village,” and this village is made up of the small but extremely dedicated group of volunteers from WCCA, LRE, the trail builders, race organizers, volunteers, and community sponsors.”

Friday July 19th - Maintenance update

One of our builders/maintenance crews favorite tools, the Prohoe Rouge hoe.. At the view point before dropping into the Axemate pit, a favorite view for a lot of riders.

The team here at WCCA would like to give our trail pass holders an update on our 2024 Maintenance season! Our maintenance crew has been putting in some long hard hours in this heat and tropical weather we’ve been having (Huge thanks Marcus, Evan, Ben, Reed, and Faith). Before listing a highlight list of what has been happening, we’d like to take a second to say that passes are still available! (Wccanl.ca/Donate) The number of pass sales and the amount of work completed directly correlate, huge thanks to everyone who has already supported the 2024 WCCA Maintenance and Build season!

So far this season, our team has completed:

  • TWSG : Raked top/bottom, fixed spring run off damage, fixed drainage

  • Ginger Route: Clean up and tune up

  • Curry: Clean up and tune up

  • Cub Mtn general area: Greenery cut back and cleared

  • GOLDMINE : Huge amount of work top-bottom, widened, cut back, tons of fresh dirt, everything tuned up, and returned back to a fast, flowy state

  • Moose Knuckle: Greenery cut back and cleared, bottom half tuned up

  • Yogi: Field portion greenery cutback and cleared

Our team is still working through the network, the upcoming Long Range Enduro is taking maintenance priority, our crew is currently working in the valley trails.

We have a maintenance survey posted on our IG Highlights ( https://forms.gle/vAetvDVnis4KrqLcA ). Please fill it out if you have any concerns or anything you’d like to see done, we are working on getting all trails in our network covered. Thanks for reading through this and supporting the WCCA. Safe riding!
